On June 5, 2026, the Philippine Consulate General in Xiamen, in partnership with One Shang, hosted a Basic Life Support (BLS) training session at the Consulate office. Staff members and their families came together to learn life-saving skills in a warm and engaging atmosphere. The session kicked off with a theory class led by Dr. Chris. Though the content was intensive, everyone stayed fully focused, asking practical questions like “What about pregnant women?” and “How much pressure is safe for an infant?” — proof that this was no ordinary lecture.

The highlight came during the hands-on practice. Consul General Almeda stepped up to the CPR manikin, knelt down, and practiced chest compressions with real dedication, carefully mastering the rhythm and depth. His active participation sent a clear message: first aid isn’t just a formality — it’s a skill everyone should own.

Participants also practiced the Abdominal Thrust maneuver for choking emergencies and learned how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). After repeated drills and a written exam, the vast majority passed with flying colors and received their BLS certification.

A special thank you to all paticipants for their strong support in making this event a success. As the Consul General emphasized, the health and safety of the team and their loved ones will always be a top priority.

By the end of the day, everyone left not just with a certificate, but with the confidence to act in an emergency.
More preparation
More peace of mind.
Thumbs up to our newest lifesavers!
